Summary
We are seeking to expand our pool of telephone and face-to-face interviewing staff in Fiji. These roles require clear communication, reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to follow survey procedures accurately.
This is casual, project-based work. The amount of work available will vary depending on current projects, locations, languages required, and client deadlines.
Casual Research Interviewers
Overview
Tebbutt Research conducts market, social, and opinion research across Fiji and the Pacific. Our interviewers help collect information from members of the public, households, businesses, and other research participants.
Interviewing work may be conducted by telephone or face-to-face, depending on the project. Some projects are office-based, while others involve fieldwork in assigned locations under the direction of a supervisor.
This role suits people who are comfortable speaking with different types of people, can follow instructions carefully, and are able to work respectfully and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Contact selected respondents by phone or in person
- Explain the purpose of a research survey clearly and respectfully
- Ask survey questions exactly as instructed
- Record responses accurately using a computer, tablet, or phone-based survey system
- Follow project briefings, sampling procedures, and supervisor directions
- Maintain respondent privacy and confidentiality
- Attend project training, briefings, and quality-control sessions
- Report issues or concerns to supervisors promptly
- Work safely, ethically, and respectfully with respondents and team members
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Clear spoken communication
- Reliability and punctuality
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and structured procedures
- Respectful and patient manner when speaking with respondents
- Comfortable using phones, tablets, or computers
- Able to maintain confidentiality
- Willing to complete training before working on projects
- Willing to receive feedback and improve interviewing technique
Desirable:
- Experience in interviewing, customer service, call centres, community work, or fieldwork
- Fluent in iTaukei, Fiji Hindi, or other local languages
- Availability for flexible hours, including weekdays, evenings, or weekends where required
- Familiarity with using digital forms or survey applications
Training and Supervision
Tebbutt Research provides project briefings, role-specific training, and supervision. Interviewers are expected to follow all instructions relating to privacy, data protection, respondent consent, workplace conduct, and quality control.
Training may include survey procedures, use of interview software, respondent approach, confidentiality, safety, and project-specific requirements.
Important Information
This is casual, project-based work. Joining the interviewer pool does not guarantee regular shifts or ongoing work.
Work availability will depend on current research projects, client requirements, location, language needs, and interviewer performance.
Some projects may require work during evenings or weekends. Face-to-face projects may require travel to assigned locations.
